Safety Tips
What every family should know.
Arrive early
Arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time so children are calm and not rushing into the street.
Stay back from the curb
Children should stand at least 6 feet (3 giant steps) back from the curb while waiting for the bus.
Wait for the bus to fully stop
Never approach the bus until it has come to a complete stop, the door opens, and the driver signals it is safe to board.
Cross in front, never behind
If children must cross the street, they should always cross in front of the bus — never behind it — and make eye contact with the driver first.
Stay visible
Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially in early morning or late afternoon when visibility is reduced.
No distractions
Put away phones and devices while waiting at the stop and while boarding or exiting the bus.
